Wilbur the Penguin by Kate E. Hancock - Digital Version
Wilbur the Penguin is surely the cutest little penguin you are likely to meet. With his enormous eyes and curly toes, he is sitting patiently at 5 – 6” (12 – 15cm), just waiting to be your friend. Suitable for an intermediate crocheter, the pattern is made in a spiral of continuous rounds, and uses a variety of stitches and techniques which are clearly explained in the numerous diagrams and photos.
Wilbur can be created using any DK yarn, but why not try our own awarding winning Deramores Studio DK, a beautifully soft acrylic yarn with anti-pilling technology. The Studio DK shades required are Ebony, Frost and Burnt Orange.
Please be aware that Studio DK is a 100g ball, so you will have yarn left over if a 50g ball is specified - although you could always make Wilbur a friend! To complete your penguin you will need: 1 x 50g ball in Black DK 1 x 50g ball in Orange DK 1 x 50g ball in White DK 3.5mm (USE/4) crochet hook 3.25mm (US D/3) crochet hook (for the crocheted eyes option) 2 x 20mm safety eyes - though please note that Kate handpainted the safety eyes in the illustration for extra appeal - they are usually either a plain black or 'googly' Yarn or thread for embroidering the nose and toes Stuffing Yarn needle Stitch markers Please note: Wilbur is crocheted using UK terminology.
