Little Red in the City by renowned knitwear designer and blogger Ysolde Teague begins with a reference section which includes everything you need to plan perfectly fitting sweaters, including choosing suitable yarn for the garment's purpose and design, making swatches, taking accurate and useful measurements, adapting shaping for a perfect fit, and blocking for a professional finish.

Some of Ysolda's favourite techniques are explained: crocheted provisional cast on, long tail tubular cast on, three ways of working short rows, and one-row buttonholes.

The book includes seven patterns for women's garments which incorporate the skills learned in previous chapters: a tank top, short sleeved cardigan, several very different long sleeved cardigans, a hooded jacket and a round necked sweater.

Each pattern includes instructions for at least 15 sizes up to a finished bust measurement of 58 or 60" (147 or 152cm), and is shown modelled by Ysolda and her friend Amanda, to illustrate how the same garment will appear on two differently sized and shaped women.

Six of the seven patterns feature seamless constructions and the most are worked from the top-down.
