Jean Greenhowe has been designing and publishing her distinctive patterns for many years. Her beautifully detailed dolls and toys all look so much more complicated than they are - if you can knit, purl, increase and decrease you can make one of her designs. All designs are made using standard DK yarn, with some requiring small amounts of a number of shades, so they an excellent way to use up the oddments that every knitter has tucked away. Or why not try our own award winning Deramores Studio DK or Deramores Baby DK. Jemima-Jane is a splendid 51cm (20") dressing up doll with a removable mob cap, two skirts, a popover apron and hair accessories. Misses Amelia, Christabel and Sophie are 29cm (11.5") tall and have delightful (removable!) Victorian style evening wear, daywear and, of course, underwear. Continuing the Victorian theme, we have 3 little topsy-turvy dolls: Holly reversing to Ivy, Buttercup to Daisy and Pansy to Rose. These miniature dolls are just 17cm (6.75") tall. And finally, miniature teddies: Bearysmall is the tiniest, measuring an appealing 5cm (1"). Babette with her hat and feather boa is 9cm (3.5") and Hartley is the largest teddy at 11cm (4.5"). All measurements for the bears are in the seated position.

Time to digitise

OK but only wanted one pattern and would have preferred a download to save time and paper. Very frustrating that I had to wait for the pattern to arrive before I could place an order for the wool and that meant increased postage costs and further delay. A book is quite clumsy to handle while knitting and I often found the layout of the pattern confusing - jumping from one set of instructions to another. :(

Another excellent Jean Greenhowe book

I love Jean Greenhowe's toy patterns and have made many of them but not from this book. I'm looking forward to following the clear instructions to make some new toys

Bought this book many years ago and was pleased to purchase again. Will be making the Jemima Jane ragdoll for my elderly mum who suffers from Alzheimer's. I can therefore make in the colours she loves and it can be easily washed.
