Completely Un-Useable Pattern

Dreadful. The pattern is completely inaccurate. As a beginner, I worked to get the tension right (28 stitches for 4”) and cast on 172 stitches (as the pattern dictates) for a size 40 bust. A very experienced knitter at my knitting group stopped me saying that the picture showed a flare much less wide than that, indeed the flare I wanted is as the picture shows, which is quite close fitting to the body. I have now given up the pattern and cast on 120 stitches which gives me a width of 40” across the lower hem of the garment. I did start to write to you, but as the pattern costs so little I didn’t bother. Now, though, as you’ve asked...
