this pattern is easy for a beginner to understand

Waste of time and money

I started knitting this pattern and when I got to the third 10cm, I noticed that it did not look right, as it would not go flat, and the sides were not neat. So undid down to the first 10cm, and did it without the change. I have just finished the back and am still not at all happy with the result. So my time and money for the wool has been wasted. I knitted the Spinnaker for my daughter and that turned out beautiful. I have been knitting for 60 years, so I am not a beginner.

Beautiful knit

I purchased the pattern to make the sweater as a present for my daughter living in Vienna. The travelling rib was a challenge to begin with, as although I had knitted lots of cable jumpers years ago, this was the first time I had ever come across this particular stitch. However once I got into the hang of it I had that ‘lightbulb’ moment when it all made sense! Only typo error I found was when they tell you to rejoin yarn around neckline, after you have already rejoined it on previous sentence. I did advise the pattern manufacturers of this error. I used an 8ply Australian Merino yarn that knitted up beautifully and was very happy with the result. I will be taking this sweater to her in October, in time for their winter. And yes, I would definitely knit it again, nothing like a challenge to keep the brain ticking!

Beautiful pattern

This is an unusual pattern, but well written. This is the first time I have used ‘travelling rib’ stitch, but once I got into the hang of the pattern, it all fell into place. Easy to follow and front and back are basically straight pieces with few shapings etc. Nice dropped shoulder and easy moss stitch sleeves. Now 3/4 way through this jumper which is a gift for my daughter living overseas.
