Buy From Our Great Range of Aran Weight Yarns
Aran yarn is one of the most popular medium-weights available, and it’s easy to see why. Traditionally, Aran wools consist of undyed fibres, creating natural-looking colours that can be mixed and matched to create stunning results. Aran yarns are sometimes referred to as Fishermen’s wool because it’s thought that it originated from the Celtic Aran Islands that lie just off the coast of Galway.
Aran yarn is quite tricky to work with, and many of the patterns that use it are more complex in nature - but don’t let that put you off. You’ll need to focus on your stitches, and you’ll need to apply care and concentration to every row, but once you’ve mastered the basics of knitting with Aran wool, the world is your oyster when it comes to creating gorgeous clothes, accessories and home furnishings!
Deramores stocks an unrivalled selection of Aran knitting wool. We bring you Aran weight yarns from all of the main brands, including Rowan, Debbie Bliss, Stylecraft and Sirdar – and within each collection lies an unfathomable variety of colours and textures that can be combined to create one-off knits. Choose wool, cotton and alpaca fibres for a soft, luxurious finish, or opt for nylon, viscose or acrylic Aran wools if you want to create clothes that are ultra-durable.
