Quail Publishing has been creating knitting pattern books for almost a decade, but in recent years the company has taken the bold step to set up its own design house.

Quail Studio was set up over four years ago when bringing their own design style to the forefront of the publications.

Quail Studio’s pattern collections place emphasis on simple, clean styling, and pared back locations to connect strongly with high street fashion. The whole concept behind Quail Studio handknit designs is to take a different approach to designing knitwear. Drawing inspiration from high-street fashion and how knitwear is being designed and used within collections.

Quail’s theory is no matter how long you have been knitting for, everyone needs those core knitwear pieces in their wardrobe that are well designed and fit in a way that make you want to wear your knitwear every day. As with any independent business there is no set working day for the Quail team. A typical day at Quail can change so much as we are always working on exciting new projects and concepts.
