It all started when I was six or seven and my mother taught me to knit. I made clothes for all of my dolls and teddy bears, and the dolls of my sisters too. I also loved to sew, so I would make the entire outfit.

When I left school I bought a sewing machine and a knitting machine. Every Saturday I would make a new outfit to wear out that night. I also taught myself to crochet and made various ponchos and dresses.

Jump forward forty years and when I was made redundant from my previous job, someone asked me what I would like to do for a living. I remember saying that in an ideal world, I would love to be paid to knit. Shortly after, I began knitting for my local wool shop and from there I went on to become a knitwear and crochet designer.
