Butterfly Quilting Stitch

This stitch is worked over a multiple of 6 stitches plus 3. 12 rows form the pattern.

Using A, cast on and purl one row as a foundation.

1st row (RS): Using B, K2, * sl 5, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row: Using B, P2, * sl 5, P1, rep from * to last st, P1.

3rd row: Using A, K.

4th, 6th and 12th rows: Using A, P.

5th row: Using A, K4, * K1 from under loose strands, K5, rep from * ending last rep, K4.

7th row: Using B, K1, sl 3, * P1, sl 5, rep from * to last 5 sts, K1, sl 3, K1.

8th row: Using B, P1, sl 3, * P1, sl 5, rep from * to last 5 sts, P1, sl 3, P1.

9th – 10th rows: As 3rd – 4th rows.

11th rows: Using A, K1, * K1 from under loose strands, K5, rep from * to last st, K1.

Note: 2 colours A (blue) and B (pink) are used. Slip all stitches purlwise with yarn on right side of work.

Knitting under loose strands, rows 5 and 11: Insert right-hand needle knitwise under loose strands and then into first stitch on left-hand needle. Knit stitch in usual way.
