We fell in love with the Malabrigo story and how their ethics align with our own; this is the reason why we chose to add this fantastic brand to our curated collection of yarns. Their fair trade and cruelty free practice shows just how much they care about not only their craft, but the community around them.
We're delighted to be able to share the produce of this amazing brand with our customers.
From humble beginnings when two brothers-in-law started dyeing wool in a kitchen pot, Malabrigo now sells to Europe and the rest of the world. They employ women of all ages and always try to give jobs to people with fewer opportunities than the average.
Malabrigo yarns are renowned for their exceptional-quality merino wool yarns lovingly created by a family run company based in Uruguay. Their passion is to bring you beautiful premium wool yarns and designs that inspire your creativity. Every yarn has been hand-dyed by a cooperative of women in Peru and its stunning colour palette has been inspired by the breath-taking nature that surrounds Malabrigo’s free-range, mulesing-free flocks. Bring these beautiful textures and colours into your knitting and crochet projects.
We now stock four gorgeous ranges of Malabrigo yarns; from the soft, strong Rios yarn, a great yarn for frequently-worn garments, housewares, and children and baby clothes, to Rasta yarn, a lightly-fulled single-ply yarn of magnum proportions - perfect for quick knits, textured stitches, hats, cowls, scarves and outerwear.
Malabrigo Sock yarn is a soft, smoothly-plied, lightweight yarn in a range of semi-solid and watercolour multi colourways. Spun from luxurious merino and treated to make it machine washable for easy care. Don’t be fooled by the name - while it’s certainly a treat for the feet, this delightful yarn is also a particular favourite for shawls and scarves.

Worsted is the original yarn that made Malabrigo an international favourite. A buttery-soft single ply of fine Uruguayan Merino wool, this yarn has excellent stitch definition, comes in an enormous rainbow of colours, and is deliciously squishy and cosy. Like all Malabrigo yarns, it is kettle-dyed in small batches by artisan dyers.
Bring these stunning colours into your knitting and crochet projects.
