When you have finished a knitting project, you usually have to cast off the stitches that you are left with.
You usually cast off with the right side of the work facing you, like here with this stocking stitch sample.
Start by knitting two stitches.
Now pass the first stitch over the second stitch and off the needle.
Knit the next stitch.
Pass the first stitch over the second stitch and off the needle.
Be careful not to make the cast off edge too tight. You can ensure it is loose by pulling slightly on each stitch that you knit.
Repeat this across the row until you have one stitch remaining.
Cut the yarn. If you need to sew up your knitting, leave a long length of yarn to sew it up with.
Pass the length of yarn through the last stitch and pull to fasten off.
That’s how to cast off!
