Shellby the Snail by Amanda Berry - Digital Version
Shellby is a quick to knit little snail. He would come in handy as a pincushion, or you could knit a group of snails (an escargatoire!) and hide them in the garden and have a treasure hunt with the kids!
All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. This pattern just uses 4 stitches: knit, purl, a kfb increase and a k2tog decrease. You will also need to know how to knit stripes (i.e. changing colour at the end of a row).
Shellby is 7cm tall and 10cm long, to make him you will need 3.5mm straight knitting needles. For the eyes you'll need black embroidery thread, small circles of white felt fabric and a sewing needle. Toy filling (less than 25g). 2 x 8mm diameter bule buttons to decorate shell. A darning or tapestry needle to sew the knitted pieces together.

Shellby the Snail
Made Shellby for my baby granddaughter. No matter how I try poor Shellby wont stand up. Keeps falling over. Must of been at the beer I left out for the slugs in the garden!!!!
Great quick knit, I changed the colours as my son is obsessed with Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell. He loves his new Norman sequins and all.
Such a delightful thing to knot
Really easy pattern to follow and the resulting snail was given to my grand-daughter. Love at first sight but swiftly followed by a request to knit lots of snail friends in all colours of the rainbow!
